"Now this right here is not a preview
Of what the album goin' to bring you, or nothing like that
Sharing things I think quietly, with those that admire me

New Music: Janelle Monáe feat. Erykah Badu "Q.U.E.E.N."

"Girl, this is crazy," Janelle Monáe says in the opening of her new collaborative with Erykah Badu, and it is that—crazy.

Off Janelle's forthcoming album, Electric Lady, this debut single carries a funky strut with Afrobeat horns and Princely synth-squelches adjoining lyrics such as:
Hey sister am I good enough for your heaven?
Say will your God accept me in my black and white?
Will he approve the way I’m made?
Or should I reprogram the programming and get down?

Even if it makes others uncomfortable
I wanna love who I am
Even if it makes other uncomfortable
I will love who I am
Janelle also channels her inner emcee towards the end of the track with a lyrical knock empowering the song's themes of femininity and strength. Love!

As Electric Lady falls subsequent to The ArchAndroid (2010), my hope is that the awaited effort exceeds its predecessor in creativity and volume.

Listen up!

Stevie J. and Joseline Hernandez on The Breakfast Club

In light of their forthcoming second season of Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta, Stevie J. and main dame, Joseline, fell in on The Breakfast Club last week with topics such as their messy Love triangle with Mimi Faust, sex, and a taste of music.

Check out the interview below, and watch the season premiere of Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta tonight at 8/7c on VH1.

Old Music: Kanye West The Prerequisite

This is old news, right?—or maybe not if you're one of the ones praying for the old Kanye to resurface.

Well, consider your prayers answered with the release of Ye's demo tape known as The Prerequisite. Carbon dating sets this relic about three years prior to the release of The College Dropout in 2004. Fascinating... What's more concretely fascinating is its track list. Raw versions of  “Jesus Walks” and “Family Business” along with to-be-renamed joints, "Dream Come True" ("All Falls Down") and "Have It Your Way" ("Bring Me Down"). I spotted an old personal favorite of mine, "Wow!" Also, look out for uncelebrated titles such as, "Out Of Your Mind” and "Never Letting Go (The Stalker Song)".

Check the complete track list and download link below.

1. Home (Windy)
2. Jesus Walks
3. Have It Your Way
4. Out Of Your Mind
5. Wow!
6. Need To Know
7. Gotta Pose
8. Never Letting Go (The Stalker Song)
9. Hey Mama
10. Know The Game
11. Family Business
12. Dream Come True
13. Freestyle
14. Last Freestyle
15. Heartbeat

Nicki Minaj Covers ELLE

April showers wash away Nicki Minaj's beloved false eyelashes and MAC pink lips on the forthcoming issue of ELLE.

A breath of fresh air, right? I mean, aside from the Pamela Anderson-esque blonde aura, I think Nicki looks globally stunning. What I enjoyed more than her new look were the excerpts from the interview. Peep the excerpts below, and watch out for ELLE's full April 2013 issue on stands March 18.

On her dramatic make-under for her ELLE photo shoot:
"When I saw myself with barely any makeup at, it was such a… like, I'm so, so attached to my pink lipstick, it's hard. I feel that it's become a part of me. To go in front of the camera, without pink lips or big ol' crazy lashes—you know, nothing—I felt naked. It was scary! So this photo shoot was a real accomplishment in my eyes."

On experiencing bullying in school as a child:
"I went through a lot of bullying early on. Girls made my life a living hell. We had come to America from a different country. My brother and I had accents. It was very tough. So I've always put up this wall—it was a self-defense mechanism growing up—because I was almost expecting people to attack me. And I still have it. It's sad."

Her advice for women on how to command respect:
"My advice to women in general: Even if you're doing a nine-to-five job, treat yourself like a boss. Not arrogant, but be sure of what you want—and don't allow people to run anything for you without your knowledge. You want everyone to know, Okay, I can't play games with her. I have to do right by this woman. That's what it's all about."

On her plans for world domination:
"My goal in the beginning was to buy my mother a house. Now I realize, Okay, if I really focus and become a key player in business, then I can build an empire. I'm thinking of a legacy that I can be proud of and wealth that my grandchildren can use to go to college. So world domination—in terms of providing for my family—is absolutely my goal."
